Birthdays in the Classroom

To avoid mixing birthday snacks with instructional time, birthday snacks will be served to the class during our lunch time from 12:00-12:20.  24 hours notice for treats to be served is needed. Treats brought at the end of the day cannot possibly be honored as that is our specialist time and we are away from the classroom.

Please do not send any treats that require cutting, scooping, or that require other intensive serving preparations as our lunch is only 20 minutes!

Please make sure any treat that is sent is edible for the entire group and serves every child in the classroom. Our school honors a no nut policy. Please do not send birthday (or treats for any other event) that contain nuts. Also please note many of our students do not consume pork products, which includes gelatin (found in many candies, fruit snacks, etc).

Some ideas for birthday snacks are:

  • Cookies
  • Juice
  • Fruit
  • Vegetables
  • Birthday Pencils/Erasers

That being said, birthdays are special events for children and we look forward to those special days and welcome snacks in honor of your child! Summer birthdays will always be honored (and it is encouraged) if your family wishes.
